
I was sick of the plain old white mini blinds in our pantry and kitchen so I decided to make some new window treatments that would bring some customization to the room. I chose a beige ticking stripe fabric I found at Walmart for $4/yd and a muslin for the backing.

Rather than making roman shades from scratch, I reused some of the old parts of the mini blinds. I got rid of all of the slats and attached the shades to the bracket with velcro so its easy to detach and throw in the wash when they get dirty.

To make the folds I sewed the fabric together and put a dowel in each fold. Then I added small plastic loops where the blind cords hang down.

What a great idea, holy buckets why didn't I think of doing this! I can't stand those plastic stupid blinds.
